Thanks to the work of graphic designers, these printed materials draw audiences into the story. Their bold graphics and vibrant colors catch people’s attention, and their concise messaging ensures they convey information quickly and effectively.

While some may consider print media as barely holding on, digital media, on the other hand, is the dominant way that people get their information today. So, graphic design is an essential ingredient in the various digital content that we consume every day. Below are some of the most popular ones. 

Educational Content

  • Ebooks are books in digital form that can be read through a personal device, such as a phone, laptop, or ebook reader. Graphic designers are responsible for their layout, fonts, and other visuals that create a more enjoyable reading experience.  
  • Websites and blogs are the digital equivalent of traditional publications. Graphic design comes into play in how these websites and their pages are displayed, including their logos and branding visuals.
  • Webinars and elearning courses contain training or other educational content for personal or professional development. They can be done live or they can be recorded for convenience. To keep learners engaged, graphic designers ensure that the content and design are easy to understand and easy to scan, while images or graphics are clear and high quality. In addition, they also pay attention to typography, color, and white space.

  • Motion graphics are prevalent in video games, trailers, promotional videos or ads, product demos, and other forms of interactive media. The designs come to life through the use of 2D and 3D animation and visual effects. Graphic designers animate visual elements with the goal of grabbing the viewer’s attention.

Video streaming and sharing are popular past times for many people. While a compelling story is important, the backgrounds, props, colors, and characters also play key roles in making the video more engaging. Graphic designers ensure that the visual elements used in the video not only supports the story but also captivates the audience. They know how to work with contrast, proportion, balance, emphasis, repetition, and whitespace so audiences stay hooked until the end.
